Cradle
44” long - 26” deep - 48” tall

The story behind this is that my son and his wife asked me to make a cradle “ to hand down through the generations,” and I made two. They are using theirs for the second time now. This is another use of that pattern makers lathe. The Claro Walnut posts are turned, then each end is milled into a hexagon. The hexagon provides a place to attach the legs and the cherry piece which is attached to the swinging basket. (The hexagon should also serve to ward off evil spirits.) The stand is walnut, the basket is white oak, and there is a bit of cherry too. All of the basket parts are laminated from 1/8 inch thick strips. Some of those laminations are connected with long scarf joints. I had one of my worst table saw accidents doing this, and I have a piece of the white oak buried in my hand today. Be careful folks! My daughter has asked for this one and I told her that if I should sell it I will happily make another - and I will.
